Full Group Discussion: How might participant teachers work on their portfolios files if they are using computers in a variety of locations?

Review the Portfolio Checklist on p. 1.07 in your notebook or on the Resource CD in the Assessment folder.

Unit Template

  • Create a shortcut to the "start here" file on the CD
    • In Firefox, create a shortcut to "Essentials.htm"
  • Go to CD/Unit Porfolios Folder
  • Save the Unit Plan Template into the unit_plan folder in your Portfolio folder

Planning a Publication to Explain Projects
  • In small groups, plan and create a publication to explain projects to your target audience.
    • Define your audience.
    • What might be the misunderstanding or misconceptions your target audience might have about Project-Based Learning?
    • Decide what kind of publication will best reach your target audience.
  • Note: You can use the electronic course Notebook on your CD (CD/in this course/Face-to-face. Download and print or type into the electronic document.
  • Look at the list of possible topics on p. 1.23.
    • What will you include in your publication?
    • Where do you need additional research?

Group Assignment: Designing Projects, p. 1.24
  • Go to http://www.intel.com/education/designprojects.
  • Click Project Design.
  • Bookmark the site.
  • Divide each of the sections in #5, p. 1.24 among the members of your group.As a group, research Project-Based Learning based on your need for additional information for completing your publication.

  • Review some sample publications on the CD/Project Learning Folder.

Group Activity: Create Your Publication
  • Using the information you have gathered, work as a group to create a publication for your target audience. Follow the instructions on pp 1.25-1.27 to complete your publication.
  • Upload your publication to the documents section of the Engage Community Group. In the description, identify your target audience and the members of your group.

Blogging Your Journey
  • Go to the Blog in the Engage Community Group.
  • Respond to the Blogging prompt for Module 1. Reply to the blog entry by "commenting."
